Fruitful reveries, fashion, reconstruction, and home diy blog
I recently signed up for a meetup group called “The OC 20-30 Somethings Crafty Martha Wannabe Meetup Group”, and I attended their 2 year anniversary party and potluck yesterday. I was very nervous, but excited to be meeting about 20 new women. Everyone was very friendly and I felt comfortable in no time at all! Everyone was required to cook up a dish or dessert, and I decided to make a peach cobbler since peaches were on sale – and who doesn’t love a sale?? After going through 15 or so recipes for peach cobblers online, I decided to just experiment and develop my own recipe for this tasty dish. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to take pictures, because I was in a rush to get it in the oven so I could get ready for the party. I was late about an hour, but the hostess was just glad I was able to make it *smile*. I’ll post the recipe for my “Spiced Vegan Peach Cobbler” when I remake the dish and take some pictures of the process and finished product. I was very happy with the result 🙂
After we stuffed ourselves with all that yummy goodness, we got to paint a small canvas and birdhouse. The first thing that popped into my head was Totoro, so I used that as my inspiration for my artwork. Here is how it turned out
I was also able to reconnect with an old classmate from high school, which was really great! I hadn’t spoken to her since high school (about 6 years now) so it was really fun being able to hang out with her and I came to find that we actually have a lot more in common than our first names 🙂 Looking forward to spending more time with her and the other women in this group!
Edit: If you are in the area and are interested in joining the group, you can sign up through their website on Meetup. You don’t have to be artistic or creative – as long as you have an interest in crafts, diy, and such, you will have an awesome time learning while making new friends 🙂
